TNR Trap-Neuter-Return :: About This Website

Hi, my name is Sofia, and I have been a Girl Scout in the GSSGC (Girl Scouts San Gorgonio Council) for over 13 years! It has been a very fun journey for me as I have learned so many things, helped other people, worked on community service projects, experienced fun events and adventures, sold many cookies, and helped make the world a better place! This website is part of my Girl Scout Gold Award Project. It addresses the importance of the Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) process and help to solve the cat over-population problem in my local community. Animals are something that I love. TNR helps address the current cat over population problem and lets free roaming community cats live out their lives. I decided to spread TNR education on what TNR is as well as local TNR programs and resources available, so that people like you can view it and help make a difference with TNR in your area!

This project was also inspired by our current neighborhood community cat White Paw who I helped TNR as a part of this project. It is also in memory of our previous neighborhood community cat Mr. Midnight. The cat images used in this site are mainly pictures of both White Paw and Midnight. I was also inspired to take action by our families cats that were rescued, some who were rescued from the euthanization list at the Carson Animal Shelter in Gardena, CA. They are incredibly sweet and beautiful cats that were scheduled to be put to sleep due to overcrowding in the shelter and lack of space.

Thank you for visiting my website and for your interest in TNR. I also want to give a shout-out and special thanks to my mentors and everyone who has helped me with this project. This includes my project team including my project advisor and project sustainer Natalie Birman, President of the non-profit cat rescue Kitty Camp Corp. Together, we can all take steps to make a difference and offer positive solutions to help the current cat over-population problem. TNR Programs have proven to lower euthanization rates of cats and kittens in animal shelters, help improve the quality of life of free-roaming community cats, and is an important way to help the current cat over population problem. My hope is to help save as many cats lives as possible by spreading TNR education, and promoting current resources and programs available.

Sincerely,

Sofia D ~ Troop 2083 & 7000
